今天，我同事Jacky 喜滋滋地跑到我座位上，跟我说：Last night he makes a bomb。what??? 难道他昨天晚上去“造原子弹”去了吗？
原来，在英语口语中，make a bomb表达的不是”制造炸弹“。make a bomb 表达的是“发财，挣大钱”的意思。
另外，口语中我们可以使用make a bomb, 但是我们如果在写作的时候要用make a fortune 来表达。
make a bomb + V-ing sth 通过做某事来赚钱
例： I could make a bomb selling these cupcakes!
卖这些杯蛋糕，我可以赚一大笔钱！
make a fortune + V-ing sth 通过做某事来赚钱
例：Tom made a fortune selling and buying real estate.
汤姆通过买卖房地产赚了一大笔钱。
Bomb （电影，音乐）卖座率低，不受欢迎
例： A newspaper says that a picture that had cost 34 million dollars to make has bombed at the box office.
