“the three Rs”三个R？什么意思呢？大部分人不知道！

昨天阅读的时候看到了这样一句话：
Most government ministers want teachers to concentrate on the three Rs.
前面都好理解，不过句中有一个表达"the three Rs"，是什么意思呢？
查阅相关资源，原来，"the three Rs"是一个习惯表达，指的是“基础教育三要素”，也就是“读、写、算”。
这三个R分别代表的是三个英文词汇：reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic
这是比较幽默的表达，因为这三个词正确的拼写应该是：reading, writing, and arithmetic
英文表达就是：
When talking about children's education, the three Rs are the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
大家如果读这三个词，会发现读音的前面都有一个/r/的音。
那么，开头的那句话的意思就是说：
大部分政府部长希望教师重视基础教育的三要素（读、写、算）。
